During the Revolutionary War, there was not much money in circulation, so the state governments and the Congress issued their own paper money so that trade could carry on. An early American toy, Graces consist of four wooden dowels and two beribboned hoops. The object of the game is to use two sticks to catch the hoop tossed by your opponent’s two sticks. The better you get at it, the smaller your hoop and the farther apart the tosser and catcher stand. Used in the past primarily by girls so that they could learn to move gracefully, graces are now enjoyed by both genders. It provides good aerobic exercise, too!
