Lecture on 18th-Century Architecture in North Carolina

Peter Sandbeck, Administrator of the State Historic Preservation Office and Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer in the Department of Cultural Resources, will speak at 7 pm on Thursday, April 8 in the Visitors Center on Architecture in 18th-Century North Carolina. Admission will be $15 for the public and $10 for members of the Joel Lane Historical Society. Refreshments will be served. Seating is limited, and reservations are required. Please call 919-833-3431 with your MasterCard or Visa, or mail a check to P O Box 10884, Raleigh NC 27605. Be sure to include the names of all in your party; nametags will serve as tickets.

Peter is the author of a comprehensive guide to architecture in Craven County, NC entitled The Historic Architecture of New Bern and Craven County, North Carolina. Prior to coming to the Department of Cultural Resources, Peter was a project administrator at Colonial Williamsburg and the architectural historian at Tryon Palace. He is also a historic preservation consultant. He received his BA in architectural history from the University of Virginia and has written numerous articles in historic preservation journals and newsletters. He is a marvelous and well-informed speaker.
