Lizzie Lane’s Colonial Tea

when: Sep. 25, 2011

Over 80 ladies joined us for Lizzie Lane’s Colonial Tea on Sunday, September 25 from 3 to 5 pm with a rain date of October 2. Grandmothers, mothers, and daughters enjoyed a cup of tea made in the time-honored manner of loose tea and boiling water accompanied by various tasty delicacies. After tea, girls tried their hands at several activities, including making rag dolls, learning to dance the Virginia Reel, and others. An email would have been sent if we had needed to move to the rain date, so it was essential to provide your email address when purchasing tickets.

Admission to the tea for the general public was be $30 for adults and $20 for children aged 12 and under; for members of the Joel Lane Historical Society: $25 for adults and $15 for children aged 12 and under. All tickets had to be purchased in advance and were non-refundable. Participants could mail a check to PO Box 10884, Raleigh NC 27605, or call 919-833-3431 with MasterCard, or Visa credit cards to purchase tickets. It was important to include the names of all in your party as nametags served as tickets. Seating was be on a first come-first served basis. Minimum age was 5 years. Proceeds benefited the programs of the organization. This event was sold out for the last two years, so it was advised that you not delay your ticket purchase if you’d like to attend.

What visitors say

Dear Mrs. Mitchell,
You did some good explaining. Now I get what you were saying about that stuff in the house and the kitchen. That fruit in the tree I didn’t get none but people said it was good.
