Volunteer Open House

when: Sep. 13, 2008

The Volunteer Open House was from 11 am to 12 noon on Saturday, September 13, in the gardens at 160 South St. Mary’s Street. We still have openings for many types of volunteers who can work either week days or on Saturday afternoons.  The jobs include office assistants, tour guides, hands-on history presenters, gardeners, distributers of flyers, and those who can sew or even wash and iron costumes! At special events, we need all kinds of assistance from setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and tents, greeting and counting visitors, to serving punch and selling items from the gift shop.

Built in about 1770, the Joel Lane Museum House is the only site in Wake County that interprets the Revolutionary War.  If you’d like to learn about history, teach others about it, and share your enthusiasm, please plan to volunteer.  For more information, call the Curator at 919-833-3431 or email
