Report on Archaeological Digs Arrives

We are so grateful to Catherine Ambrose and Judy Ambrose who recently delivered a report on the artifacts from the archaeological digs of 1969 and 1973. Culminating a year of volunteer work at the State Office of Archaeology, Catherine, Judy, and Mary Grayson Brook completed a study of the 877 artifacts that had been languishing in the vaults at the Archaeology lab since the original digs. Their findings did not conclusively prove that the burials were those of Lane family members; it did suggest however, that the graves were too late to be those of Joel or either of his wives. image

What visitors say

Thank you so much for letting our IB Human Geography class come tour the Joel Lane house. I really enjoyed learning about how high-class people lived back them. I was surprised to hear that they were always working and had no time to themselves. I was also shocked at the size of the beds. They were so small! You two really played good parts and made me feel like I was really back in those times.
