Filming at the JLMH

Tony Curtis is working on a documentary film on the life of Samuel Windsor, the only know African American whaler living on Shackleford Banks, NC in 1874, titled “Anglers, Whalers and Waves: the Story of Samuel Windsor.” Tony and his cast and crew filmed an interior scene in the middle class home at the JLMH on December 13, 2013. JLMH Director, Belle Long, had a blast watching them work on getting the scene just right!

What visitors say

Thank you so much for letting our IB Human Geography class come tour the Joel Lane house. I really enjoyed learning about how high-class people lived back them. I was surprised to hear that they were always working and had no time to themselves. I was also shocked at the size of the beds. They were so small! You two really played good parts and made me feel like I was really back in those times.
