Brass Candlestick of Flemish Origin
Brass candlestick, probably Flemish. This rare candlestick has a pierced elongated candle socket and ring and vase-turned standard. At the mid-point of the standard is a molded drip pan, and the candlestick terminates on a high domical foot. The candle socket has the ejection hole and a slightly molded bobeche. Given in memory of Ruth Sims Phillips, a descendant of Jesse and Winnifred Aycock Lane. Object number: 1978.4.1 Dimensions: Height, 8”; diameter of base, 4 1/2” Estimated age: circa 1670.
