Keep History Alive with a Year-End Donation!

The Year-End Appeal supports our historical work year-round. Your gift will make a big difference!

Your Year End Gift makes it all possible, including:

Educational Programs: school field trips, tours, Open Houses, activities at the museum, Hands-On History presentations in schools and throughout the community, craft materials, and lectures. (Thanks to generous donor support, we are able to offer more and more programming for free!)

Preserving the Oldest House in Wake County: upgrades to aging HVAC and electrical systems, repairs to chimneys and siding, interior paint, and preventative maintenance to avoid future damage.

Museum Collection: new acquisitions and professional conservation of precious artifacts, plus improved signage and interpretive materials in the museum and on the grounds.

Garden: plants and signage; care and upkeep. (Next up: it’s time to replace our perimeter fence.)

Tour Guides’ and Volunteers’ Costumes: the hand-sewn, period-correct petticoats, breeches, caps, and waistcoats that clothe our historical volunteers. Many of our costumes are reaching the age at which replacement is necessary.

On-Going Expenses: the utilities, supplies, salaries, maintenance, etc. that keep us running day-to-day.
